Volunteer
The VYSO and its many programs would not be possible without the countless hours of dedicated volunteer work we receive each concert season. We are always eager to welcome those of you who are willing to reach out to our organization and lend a helping hand. Benefits of becoming a volunteer with our society do not just include the warm feeling you get when you hear those first few beautiful notes of a concert!
Some volunteer responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Light administrative office work, including ticket cutting, envelope stuffing and music copying
- Data entry
- Folding programs before a concert
- Back stage management during dress rehearsals and concerts
- Concert photographers, videographers and editors
- Front of house staff, including ticket takers, ticket sellers, and ushers
- Equipment transfer from one location to the next (large vehicle preferred)
- Bowing for string scores
- Music library maintenance
- Publicity (postering, poster design, writing letters and invitations)
- Program notes
We encourage all those interested in volunteering to let us know what languages they speak, what hours of the week they prefer to volunteer, and what skill set they enjoy using best.
