Students

As a member of the VYSO, you will be participating in one of Canada's premier orchestral training programs.

The VYSO nurtures and develops young musicians, both artistically and as individuals. Our programs, including performances and workshops, provide our musicians with the opportunity to discover and realize their potential in a secure yet challenging environment. For those musicians who wish to develop their abilities as soloists, we conduct annual concerto competitions, the winners of which receive an opportunity to perform as concert soloists with their orchestra.

We are firmly committed to keeping our program accessible to young musicians, regardless of financial constraints. In order to ensure that tuition fees remain affordable, the VYSO maintains a continuous and intense fundraising effort. Bursaries are available to assist students who might otherwise be unable to participate.

The VYSO contributes to the community at large. We actively pursue opportunities to join with other community organizations in support of their youth programs and we often invite music students and senior citizens to enjoy VYSO concerts as our guests.
