Gold medal performance!
2010 Winter Olympic Games Closing Ceremony
VYSO Performs in the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games
On the evening of February 28, 2010, an estimated world-wide audience of 2.5 billion watched and heard the Vancouver Youth Symphony Senior Orchestra perform in the Closing Ceremony of the Winter Olympic Games at BC Place in Vancouver. Artistic Director, Roger Cole led the orchestra in a programme that included Ben Heppner singing the Olympic Hymn and Neil Young performing his famous song "Long May You Run". The evening's concert featured Nickelback, Avril Lavigne, Alanis Morissette, Simple Plan, Hedley, Marie-Mai and K-OS.
The invitation from David Atkins Enterprises Productions to perform at the 2010 Closing Ceremony has been, by far, the most prestigious honour for the VYSO and as a bonus, the best 80th Anniversary present.
The entire experience has been an amazing one that the musicians won't soon forget!
