VYSO FAQs

When are auditions?
Auditions for the 2010/11 Season are now over. The best time to call the office to book an audition appointment is in April. Audition spaces are limited and are usually fully booked by mid-May. Please see the student section of this website for more information.

What does the VYSO perform?
The VYSO Intermediate and Senior orchestras perform full orchestra traditional repertoire. The two younger divisions, the Debut and Junior Strings Orchestras, also play somewhat more crossover pieces of a folk or pop culture nature.

Where is the VYSO located?
The VYSO operates out of St. James Community Square, 3214 W.10th Ave. Vancouver, BC. Our offices are located in the rear South East corner of the building. Free parking is available on neighbourhood streets or at the back of the building.

Can I rent music from the VYSO?
Yes, music is available for rent from our extensive orchestral library. Please contact the office with your request.

Can I hire a musician to play at an event?
Yes. Please contact the office with your request and details.
